A tradesman, tradesperson or skilled worker that specializes in connecting and using electrical wirings for related equipment, stationary machines, and for residential or commercial buildings is what we called as an electrician. There are three level which needs to be achieved by an electrician in order to gain the higher title of such line of work, namely the apprentice which takes up from three years up to six years, the journeyman which can be gained once the electrician have passed their apprenticeship and the last one is the master electrician which will take from seven years to ten years and in order to gain such title the aspiring electrician needs to take an exam that is recognized by their state.

There are basically three major types of work of electrical contractors such as the outside or the line contractors who are responsible for any transmission or distribution of high voltage lines and the inside electrical contractors who provides electricity to the structures that are located in the boundary lines of a certain property like outdoor lightings and substations. The third and the last major type of work for electrical contractors is the integrated building systems or IBS for short, and they work specifically on the installations of any low voltage lines, such as security systems, fiber optics, telecommunications, energy-efficient lighting, back-up power, climate control and wireless network.
