Before you start using your newly bought non stick frying pan, you should wash it thoroughly in a hot soapy water with a dishcloth or sponge, followed by rinsing in hot water and then, dry it out completely. Next, apply a small amount of cooking oil then wipe off the excess using a paper towel. This makes the pan seasoned and ready for use.
In most instances, you should never use heat setting that’s above medium because in reality, delicate foods your frying pan is made for do not necessarily need it and also, high heat is a big enemy for delicate nonstick surfaces. Now, nonstick does not indicate that you can cook even without using oil but, this simply gives you an advantage that you can use little amount of it.
It is highly recommended to use olive oil exclusively which is dispensed from spray container. You should never pour from a bottle because it will make you to put too much from the pan. In the event that you can’t find an olive oil spray, try to improvise by recycling a window cleaner spray bottle.
There are some things that you should be reminded of if you want to be sure that your pan’s nonstick surface will last for a long time. For instance, it will be wise to use plastic, silicon, wood utensils or rubber. There’s the possibility that they may disfigure the surface despite the fact that scratches do not affect nonstick properties so try to avoid metal or any type of sharp objects to cook with your nonstick pan.
After each use, you should follow it up with a thorough cleaning. Here, you should wash it using warm water with a mild detergent but, wash it well enough to remove oil residue. It may bake into the surface for the next time it is heated which can cause impairment to its nonstick effect in the event that the oil is not removed.
